If travelling by car, parking is available nearby at the Elgin Street Car Park.

Being injured is difficult enough without the added stress of navigating a legal claim. At Burke Mead Lawyers, we are committed to guiding clients through difficult times with clarity, care, and expertise. Our focus is entirely on personal injury and compensation matters.
Personal injury and compensation law is the only area of law we practise. Our legal services do not extend to family law, criminal law, traffic offences, or conveyancing. That focused approach means that when you engage us for your personal injury claim, you are working with a legal team that deals with these matters every day, understands the applicable legislation, and knows how to determine the strongest path forward for your claim.
Our Managing Principal, Emma Mead, is an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law, a credential awarded by the Law Society of NSW to solicitors who have practised extensively in the area and passed a formal assessment. Emma is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator and a Notary Public. Our firm is recognised in Doyle’s Guide as one of NSW’s leading compensation lawyers, and our local lawyers include Senior Associates who assist injured clients across the Hunter and NSW.
We assist injured clients across the full range of NSW personal injury and compensation claims.
The NSW workers’ compensation scheme covers injuries that arise out of or in the course of your employment. Workers’ compensation claims can provide weekly income support, medical treatment costs, and lump-sum benefits for permanent impairment.
If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, whether as a driver, passenger, motorcyclist, cyclist, or pedestrian, you may be entitled to claim compensation under the NSW compulsory third-party (CTP) scheme.
If you have suffered injuries in a public place, a shop, a workplace, or on someone else’s property because of someone else’s negligence, you may have a public liability claim.
A medical negligence claim arises where medical treatment fell below the standard reasonably expected of that practitioner, and that failure caused you harm.
Most superannuation policies include cover for total and permanent disability, and many people are unaware that they hold this cover. A TPD claim can provide a lump-sum benefit where injury or illness has left you unable to return to your previous employment.
We understand finances can be a complicated matter, and we can discuss all financial information during the initial obligation-free consultation.
The documents and evidence required depend on the type of claim. Generally, you should keep medical treatment records, any record of how the accident happened (including a police report or workplace incident report), records of your income before and after the injury, and receipts for out-of-pocket expenses. You do not need to have collected all of this before contacting us. Our legal team can help you gather the necessary documents for the claims process.
Most personal injury claims are subject to a three-year time limit under the Limitation Act 1969 (NSW), running from the date the cause of action was discoverable, with a twelve-year long-stop. Motor vehicle accident claims have shorter time limits, and workers’ compensation claims should be notified as soon as practicable. Child abuse claims in NSW have no limitation period. If you are unsure whether you are still within the time limit, contact us.
Whether a personal injury claim is worth pursuing depends on several factors, including the type of injury, the applicable scheme, and the circumstances of how the accident occurred. This is exactly what the initial consultation is for. Our lawyers can review your situation and provide an honest assessment of whether a claim is worth pursuing.
